The Concord-based What-a-Burger chain was founded by E.L. “Eb” Bost and C.W. Bost in 1956, following on the heels of the Bosts’ success selling burgers at a local diner.  "They have been selling What-a-Burgers there by about 1955", quoted by Lonnie Riffle, General Manager

 

Today, five What-a-Burger restaurants operate in Kannapolis, Concord and Mooresville.
